01 — Honest read / 6 of 10 rows they win
What they do well sits at the same rank as where you strand.
These three columns are the same size on purpose. A comparison that shrinks the competitor's strengths is marketing, and this page should not ship that way.
01 — they
What they do well
Zapier is the default answer to “when this happens, do that” for a reason. The connector library is the category's gravity well — we will not publish a fake app count; it is larger than ours by a lot, and it includes long-tail SaaS we will never list. A non-engineer can ship a working zap in an afternoon: form to Slack, Stripe to Google Sheet, calendar to HubSpot.
Tables, Interfaces, and the rest of the platform are a real way to stand up a lightweight internal app without a ticket to engineering. The product is mature. The failure modes are known. For deterministic plumbing, Zapier is not a competitor we “beat.” It is the correct tool. A comparison page that pretends a Slack notification should be a nox.markets SKU is how you train buyers to distrust every other sentence.
02 — choose them
When to choose them
Choose Zapier when the step is deterministic, the payload is structured, and a wrong run is annoying rather than an audit finding. Choose it instead of us for notify, copy, and sync jobs: “paid in Stripe → row in Sheet,” “new Typeform → Slack.”
Choose it when you already have an ops person who thinks in zaps and the graph is their job. Choose it when you need a connector we do not have and will not build this quarter. If the company is under ~15 people and the only automation needed is plumbing, a Zapier plan is the whole stack. We are not a Zapier replacement for that buyer.
03 — strand
Where you strand
You are the architect, the QA, and the on-call. An “AI step” inside a zap is a prompt with no named failure mode and no published hours. It will code the tenth vendor bill wrong and the zap will still be “on.” Task limits and multi-step zaps turn a cheap plan into a surprise.
The person who built the graph leaves; the next person is afraid to touch it. Judgment jobs — duplicate bill vs new bill, GL from last year's pattern, collections email that must match the last note on the invoice — get stubbed as “we'll add a ChatGPT step later” and later does not ship. You have excellent pipes and no appliance.
02 — Matrix / 10 rows
Zapier versus nox.markets, ten dimensions.
Zapier wins 6 of 10. Rows stay in spec order. Winning cells are not restyled smaller, quieter, or moved to the bottom.
| Dimension | Zapier | nox.markets | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01Connector coverage | Category leader; long-tail apps we will never list | The connectors on /integrations and per-SKU integrations[] | Zapier wins this row |
| 02Deterministic if-this-then-that | The product | Overkill; we should refuse to replace a healthy notify zap | Zapier wins this row |
| 03You control the graph | Full | You configure a SKU, you do not redraw it | Zapier wins this row |
| 04Lightweight internal apps (tables, interfaces) | Real surface | We are not an app builder | Zapier wins this row |
| 05AI / judgment step with a named failure mode and published hours | A prompt you paste; no harness as the product | Required to list | nox.markets wins this row |
| 06Who is on-call when a field rename breaks it | You | Us, for our SKUs | nox.markets wins this row |
| 07Sticker at low-volume plumbing | Pricing not verified; often the cheapest JSON-mover | A SKU priced for a job, not a task | Zapier wins this row |
| 08AP coding, AR chase, close binder | You can attempt it; you own QA | Named SKUs: billtray, duesday, closeout | nox.markets wins this row |
| 09Non-builder buys a judged job and goes live in setup_minutes | Simple zaps yes; judged jobs become a project | That is the motion | nox.markets wins this row |
| 10Years of templates and edge-case folklore | Yes | New catalog | Zapier wins this row |
03 — Hours and price
Hours are leftover tax, not a benchmark we timed on their product.
One ops owner × (6h/month building or changing zaps + 4h/month on silent failures, task-limit surprises, and renamed fields). This is platform tax, not the AP/AR jobs they never automated.

Billtray $179/mo, Duesday $99/mo, or growth $990/mo if several connected jobs land at once.

04 — Migration / 6 steps
Complement first. Migration is surgical.
- Inventory zaps. Label each: plumbing (keep), judged (candidate to replace), dead (turn off).
- Do not rebuild Slack/Sheet/notify zaps as SKUs. There is no SKU, and there should not be.
- For a judged zap that is already “fine” (low volume, someone watching it), leave it. Replacement is for the zap that fails quietly or was never built.
- Stand up the SKU in parallel. Example: AP mailbox → Billtray draft in QBO, while the old “email me the PDF” zap still runs. Cut the zap when a week of drafts matches what the human was going to key.
- New work: plumbing still goes to Zapier. New judged jobs go to the catalog. Freeze “we'll put ChatGPT in the zap” as a pattern.
- If Zapier is the system of record for a process (Zapier Tables as the AP queue), that is a real migration, not a toggle. Budget it like one. If the system of record is already QBO, you are swapping the intake path, not the books.
05 — FAQ / 3 questions
Three questions a skeptic actually asks.
01We have 40 zaps and they work. Why would we move?openclose
You wouldn't, for the 35 that are plumbing. The page is about the five that need judgment, or the jobs you never automated because a zap is the wrong shape. If there are zero of those, this is the wrong page.
02Your catalog has fewer integrations than Zapier. That's disqualifying.openclose
For long-tail plumbing, yes — use Zapier. For the SKU's job, the test is whether that SKU lists the system you actually run (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Gmail, HubSpot, …). A connector we do not have is a no-buy for that SKU, not a reason to pretend we have Zapier's library.
03What if a SKU is worse than our zap?openclose
Cancel it. setup_minutes and time_saved_per_month are on the card so week one can fail in public. A zap you understand can beat a SKU you don't. We should lose those deals.
Three questions about Zapier. Answers are in the page, not behind a scripted accordion.
06 — Other comparisons / 7 pages
One alternative at a time. Do not add the hours.
Each page's leftover hours share some of the same AP/AR minutes. A buyer is comparing one alternative, not eight.
