03 — Proof

What is measured, and what is not.

The hours and the setup time are catalog math at a stated volume. Production telemetry is not published yet, and nothing here pretends otherwise.

Catalog math

70 in-process returns × 14 min of organizer chase and source-doc slotting (~16h) plus ~2h of missing-form lists, minus ~1h of remaining reviewer pass

Run telemetry

04 — What it does / 5 outputs

Sorts 1099s, K-1s, and brokerage PDFs into organizer slots and chases what is still missing.

  • Slotted source-doc list
  • missing-item chase
  • exception queue

05 — One run

What one run takes in, and what it puts back.

No sandbox on this page yet. This is the real input and output contract from the record, not a demo recording.

In

  • Client document dump
  • organizer template for the return type
  • prior-year slot map
  • chase email template
  • preparer assignment

Out

  • Slotted source-doc list
  • missing-item chase
  • exception queue
  • workpaper stubs
  • client send log

06 — How it works / 50 min setup

Three steps, then it is furniture.

  1. 01

    Connect CCH Axcess and Drake

Scoped authorisation, revocable from your IdP or the dashboard.

  2. 02

    Point it at the work

Client document dump, organizer template for the return type.

  3. 03

    It runs

Slotted source-doc list — on a trigger or a schedule, 50 minutes after you start.

07 — Features / 7 listed

What is actually in the box.

  • Slots client PDFs/photos into organizer categories you mapped for that return type
  • Missing-item list from the organizer template (W-2, 1099s, K-1, property tax, identity docs)
  • Chase email from the firm mailbox; client still uploads, Organtray does not log into their bank
  • Exception queue for unreadable scans, multi-form packets, and unknown brokerage layouts
  • Workpaper stub per slot for the preparer; Organtray is not CCH/Lacerte/Drake
  • Does not calculate tax, choose elections, or e-file
  • After-busy-season quiet: it still runs on extension clients; it does not invent a January volume in July

10 — The money

Your hours, your hourly cost.

Two numbers: the hours this product removes at the catalog's stated volume, and the cost of an hour, which only you know.

17

You type this one. We do not know what an hour costs you.

Recovered per month

$850

17 h × $50 an hour, before the credits a run spends.

Where the hours come from: 70 in-process returns × 14 min of organizer chase and source-doc slotting (~16h) plus ~2h of missing-form lists, minus ~1h of remaining reviewer pass.

11 — Pricing

Buy it outright, or get it with a plan.

One-time

$14,900

  • Perpetual single-workspace license to this product’s logic, UI and connectors. Runs still spend credits.
  • Returns $5,960 as non-expiring credits at your tier’s rate.
  • Twelve months of updates and connector maintenance included.

Per run

420 credits

$8.40 a run at the Starter rate of $0.0200 per credit, less on every tier above it.

Credit class: heavy

Every run carries a published hard ceiling. A run that hits it stops and re-quotes instead of billing on.

12 — Security

Runs on nox.markets, acts in your tools.

A scoped OAuth token pulls only the objects the inputs above require, writes the outputs back to your system of record, and keeps the run payload for your workspace retention window. Revoke the token in your IdP or in the dashboard; connector secrets are deleted within 24 hours of a disconnect.

Run payloads are kept for your workspace retention window — 30 days by default on Starter and Growth, 90 on Scale and Enterprise, with zero retention available on Enterprise.

14 — Detail

The long version, including what it will not do.

Busy-season cost in a small tax shop is not the return. It is the shoebox: a client portal dump of 40 PDFs, a brokerage statement split across seven files, a K-1 that arrived as a photo, and a staffer renaming them into the organizer while the CPA waits. Organtray is a pack: a classifier that slots source documents into the organizer categories you mapped (W-2, 1099-NEC, 1099-B, K-1, property tax), a missing-item list from the organizer template for that return type, and a chase email from the firm’s mailbox.

It does not prepare or file a tax return, does not compute tax, and does not give tax advice. Slotting is a filing aid for the preparer; a CPA or EA still reviews source documents and still signs. It will mis-slot scanned packets that are three forms taped together — those sit in exceptions. If SurePrep or a full scan-and-populate stack is already feeding the prep software cleanly, skip it. Buy it when the organizer is a shared Drive folder and “missing W-2” is a sticky note.

15 — Questions / 5 answered

Before you buy.

What does it need from me before it can run?

Client document dump; organizer template for the return type; prior-year slot map; chase email template; preparer assignment. Nothing else is collected for a run.

How long does setup take?

50 minutes. Runs on nox.markets, acts in your tools. You authorise CCH Axcess, Drake, Lacerte, UltraTax CS, ShareFile, Google Drive, Microsoft 365, Gmail, Slack, SurePrep (import-only for a cutover) once.

What does it cost to own?

$14,900 once — band 5, Pack. Runs still spend credits. It is also included in the Growth plan at $990/mo — buying it outright is the way to keep it after a plan ends.

What does it hand back?

Slotted source-doc list; missing-item chase; exception queue; workpaper stubs; client send log.

Where does the hours-saved number come from?

70 in-process returns × 14 min of organizer chase and source-doc slotting (~16h) plus ~2h of missing-form lists, minus ~1h of remaining reviewer pass
